Howard Trafman negotiated a favorable settlement this month on behalf of a flood mitigation company that was alleged to have exposed a plaintiff working at a local Chicago hospital to toxic chemicals/fumes. The exposure allegedly led to permanent damage to the plaintiff’s vocal chords, a deterioration of the quality of her voice, and a loss of her occupation as a receptionist answering phones. The original demand exceeded six figures but after exposing significant weaknesses in the plaintiff’s case on causation through medical testimony, Howard was able to obtain a favorable cost of defense settlement.
